WattCoin Federation
One standard — many countries
Every country has its own national WattCoin. All follow one standard, so a coin of any country is 1 MWh. Pick a country on the diagram.
Standard
- Unit
- 1 coin = 1 MWh
- Cap
- the country’s final energy consumption in the previous year
- Price
- the country’s energy market, 365-day average
- Reserve
- its own, in the country’s energy bonds
One national WattCoin — one operator per country. The operator receives a licence for the brand, the technology and the proprietary formula.
Terms for an operatorStructure
Three levels of the Federation
Provides the common base
- brand and technology
- the proprietary price formula
- daily energy price, yearly country cap
- the bridge between countries
- reserve checks, coverage rating
Issues the national WattCoin
- a legal entity and permits under the country’s law
- the exchange and the wallet
- contracts with generators
- the 90 / 10 reserve
- daily publication of coverage
Live inside the system
- generators fill the reserve with energy
- consumers pay for electricity in the coin: 1 evan = 1 kWh
- users store value and settle with each other
Interaction
Three ways to settle
Wallet to wallet: a user pays a user, a consumer pays a generator for energy.
ExampleA family pays its electricity bill in evans — exactly as many evans as kilowatt-hours consumed.
The operator is the clearing centre: it takes in money and energy, issues and redeems coins by the formula.
ExampleA household with solar panels sells surplus energy to the operator and receives WattCoin.
The Federation bridge exchanges one national WattCoin for another at the ratio of the two markets’ energy prices.
ExampleA company keeps working capital in WattCoin and pays a supplier in another country via the bridge.

The limit
Sum of caps ≤ the world’s energy
Each country’s cap equals its final energy consumption in the previous year, so the sum of caps cannot exceed the energy consumed worldwide. The 8.88 % mark is the demo WattCoin EU (11.17 bn coins).
