WattCoin issuance

How many WattCoins there will be: each country’s cap equals its annual electricity generation, and the whole Federation equals the world’s energy.

Issuance

As many coins as the energy the country consumes

The cap of a national WattCoin equals the country’s total final energy consumption in the previous year — electricity, gas, fuels, coal, heat, in MWh. Enter the consumption to get the cap.

Coin cap—
Share of world energy—

1 TWh = 1 million MWh = 1 million coins. The cap is a limit, not a plan: only coins someone bought are in circulation.

Federation

All WattCoins together ≤ the world’s energy

125 750 000 000coins — the cap of the whole Federation: world final energy consumption in 2024, per IEA data
  • Price and volume — from one country. Each WattCoin takes both the kWh price and the energy consumption of its own country, so no kilowatt-hour is counted twice.
  • Open sources. The national energy balance for a country; IEA, World Energy Outlook for the world.
How the Federation works

How a coin is born

Nobody prints coins — they are bought

A coin appears when it is bought and leaves circulation when sold back to the system. Try it.

  1. The buyer pays the formula price.
  2. The system issues the coin — within the cap.
  3. The money goes to the reserve: 90 % bonds, 10 % USDT.
  4. On sale the coin returns and the seller is paid from the reserve.

Comparison

Why the cap is not fixed

Cap

the country’s energy consumption, updated yearly

Who gains from scarcity

no one in particular

Link to the economy

the cap grows with energy

How coins appear

purchase with money that becomes the reserve

Once a year

The yearly cap update

1After the yearly statistics

The cap is updated once a year from a single data source.

2Not below circulation

The cap never falls below the coins already in circulation.

3The rate barely moves

A cap change moves the rate by hundredths of a percent.
