Price formula
Price = energy × the WattCoin factor
Two floors, each with its own job: energy sets the value, the WattCoin factor — the standard’s proprietary formula — keeps the rate stable. Move both sliders.
Steps
The rate stands still inside a coin
Five neighbouring coins from the current point. The scale is stretched: the difference between neighbours is billionths of a dollar.
- Each next coin bought is dearer. Each next coin sold is cheaper.
- Inside a coin the rate does not change. Evans fill the coin; the rate shifts only at its boundary.
- A large order walks the steps. It is filled at once, but the first coin gets the best price and the last the worst.
Rules
Three rules of the formula
The factor is never below 1 — that is the floor of every coin.
—Even a billion-dollar order moves the rate by hundredths of a percent.
—Near the cap the price rises ever more steeply, so the last coin cannot be bought out.
—Calculated on demonstration parameters: demo WattCoin EU, cap 11.17 bn coins, 10 % in circulation, energy price $0.1616 per kWh.
Price in a trade
You cannot profit from “pumping” the rate
—
No party can change the price by hand — neither the operator nor the WattCoin Standard. Only the energy price and the cap change, by a published method.
The WattCoin factor is a proprietary formula: its shape is visible on the chart, while the exact parameters are the standard’s know-how. We share them with national operators under licence and verify that every national WattCoin prices the same way. The website runs on demonstration parameters.
