Basics
What is WattCoin?
An energy monetary standard: 1 WattCoin corresponds to 1 MWh, 1 evan to 1 kWh. Each country has its own national WattCoin, and together they form the WattCoin Federation.
The ideaWhat are evans?
1 evan = 1 kWh, 1 WattCoin = 1,000 evans. For small amounts an evan is divided into decimal fractions — down to 0.001 evan (1 Wh).
EvansHow many coins will there be?
The cap of each national WattCoin equals its country’s total final energy consumption in the previous year in MWh — electricity, gas, fuels, coal, heat. Together all WattCoins cannot exceed world energy consumption: for 2024 that is 125,750,000,000 coins. The cap is a limit, not a plan: a coin appears only when it is bought.
IssuanceWhy is the cap not fixed forever, as in Bitcoin?
Because the economy grows with energy. A fixed cap makes scarcity pay mainly the first participants, while a cap equal to energy consumption grows with the real economy. No one prints new coins.
IssuanceHow does WattCoin differ from Bitcoin?
Bitcoin has no backing, requires mining and rewards early participants most. WattCoin has an energy reserve, requires no mining, and its rate changes by a known rule.
The money problemAnd from stablecoins such as USDT?
USDT is pegged to the dollar and loses purchasing power along with it. WattCoin is tied to energy — a resource that cannot be printed.
The ideaPrice and formula
How much do a coin and an evan cost?
At the floor 1 WattCoin = 1 MWh ≈ $161.60, 1 evan = 1 kWh ≈ $0.1616 (the EU and Ukraine average on 01.10.2026). From there the price moves with the energy price and the share of the cap in circulation.
Price formulaWhat is the price made of?
Coin price = the price of 1 MWh on the country’s energy market × the WattCoin factor. The factor equals 1 at the start and grows with the share of the cap in circulation. It is the standard’s proprietary formula: its shape is visible on the chart, the exact parameters are know-how.
Price formulaWho sets the energy price?
No one by hand. It is the average day-ahead wholesale price over 365 days, calculated by a published methodology.
Energy priceWhat if energy gets cheaper?
The dollar price of the coin will fall proportionally, but the amount of energy the coin corresponds to will not change. The 365-day average smooths short spikes.
Market scenariosWhat happens when a country consumes more or less energy?
The cap is updated once a year. While a small share of the cap is in circulation, the rate changes by hundredths of a percent. The cap does not fall below the number of coins in circulation.
IssuanceWhy is each next coin dearer?
That is how the formula works: each next coin bought is dearer than the previous one, each next coin sold is cheaper. Inside a coin the rate stands still, so buying evans does not move it; the rate changes only at a coin boundary.
Price formulaReserve and safety
Is this a pyramid scheme?
No. In a pyramid, payouts to old participants come from new participants’ contributions. In WattCoin every buyer’s payment becomes a reserve that covers the redemption of all coins by the formula. Whoever buys and sells at once gets back no more than was paid.
100 % reserveWhat is the reserve made of?
90% — bonds of power generating companies, i.e. obligations to deliver electricity. 10% — a USDT buffer for instant payouts to sellers.
100 % reserveWhat if everyone wants to sell?
Each next coin sold is cheaper, so a large seller lowers their own price. The reserve equals the sum needed to redeem all coins, and no coin sells below 1 MWh.
Reserve stress testCan a large player crash the rate?
A large order is executed at once but walks the steps of the formula: the first coin at the best price, the last at the worst. The seller bears the price loss, and the rate shifts by fractions of a percent.
Whale protectionWhat if energy rises sharply but the USDT buffer does not?
Then coverage temporarily falls below 100%: for example, with a 30% rise in the average price — to about 97.7%. The shortfall is covered from the operator’s margin; when coverage exceeds 100% again, the contribution returns to the operator.
An honest caveatHow does the operator earn?
On margin: it buys energy bonds below the average price at which the rate is calculated.
100 % reserveExchange and wallet
Can I buy WattCoin now?
No. The portal, the demonstration exchange and wallet, and the community are running now. Subscribers will be told when trading starts.
Demo exchangeWhat are the demo exchange and demo wallet?
Educational models on demonstration parameters. The wallet starts with 10,000 USDT and 10 coins; everything is stored only in your browser. There is no real money and there are no real coins.
Demo walletHow does the wallet differ from the exchange?
Every deal — buying, selling, exchanging — takes place only on the exchange. The wallet stores WattCoin and USDT, sends and receives transfers and pays for energy. They are linked only by transfers: “Send to the exchange” and “Withdraw from the exchange”.
Demo walletWhy does the exchange have no order book and no leverage?
The counterparty of every trade is the reserve and the price is calculated by the formula, so no opposing order is needed. Instead of an order book you see the price steps and the market size. There is no leverage or margin trading.
Demo exchangeWhat orders does the exchange have?
Instant orders — executed at once and in full, and pending orders — triggered when the rate reaches a set level. You can buy whole coins and evans.
Demo exchangeAre trades anonymous?
The privacy model for wallet holders is being worked out and will be described in the next revision of the Whitepaper.
WhitepaperFederation and operators
What is the WattCoin Federation?
A network of national WattCoins under one standard: WattCoin Ukraine, WattCoin Poland, WattCoin Germany and so on. Each country has its own operator, cap, energy price and reserve. Between countries coins are exchanged through the Federation bridge.
FederationWho are the participants of the Federation?
Generators (from nuclear plants to households with solar panels), consumers who pay for energy with WattCoin, and users who keep assets and settle with it. The national operator brings them together.
FederationHow do I launch WattCoin in my country?
Submit an operator application. The operator receives the brand, the technology and the standard for a one-time fee and a fixed monthly subscription. There is one operator per country.
WattCoin in your countryWho are the founders?
People and companies who launch WattCoin together with the national operator: they receive coins at the start and commit to holding them as long as possible.
For foundersStatus and risks
What stage is the project at?
A concept under development. The portal and the demonstration exchange and wallet are running; public discussion of the Whitepaper is under way. Registration of a legal entity, contracts with generators and first trading lie ahead.
WhitepaperWhat are the risks?
The energy price may fall; 90% of the reserve depends on generators performing their obligations; the buffer is denominated in USDT; the legal status depends on each country’s law. The full list is in the Whitepaper.
Risks and limitationsIs this investment advice?
No. The site materials describe a concept and are not investment, financial or legal advice. The calculations on the site are educational and use demonstration parameters.
Legal informationWhy does the site use “demonstration parameters”?
The exact parameters of the WattCoin factor are the standard’s know-how and are provided to operators under licence. The site shows the same logic on demonstration values, so the numbers in the calculators illustrate the mechanics, not future prices.
